Now, SociallyRich handles hundreds of accounts and is a 6-figure business. We manage accounts for companies operating in almost any industry, including;.

Attention, Authors: I Tripled My Royalties, and You Can Too

The interesting part comes with what I did with my own service; to be able to monetize my own Instagram accounts. Remember when I said I looked up to influencers? I decided to implement all of the strategies I implemented for my clients in my own accounts. Before I knew it, my account ramonthechief passed the 20, followers mark, and so did my mens. All of this happened on full autopilot mode.

The most interesting part was using my following on Instagram as a business itself. That being said, many people started messaging me, asking me for advice on how I could help them grow their Instagram account. While SociallyRich was running in the background, I was doubling down on the quality of my content. This was my key to reaching 20, followers. I then worked with brands such as Hard Rock Hotels and Four Seasons and also got to stay there for free.

The second most difficult certification for me was the CTFL. It was rediscovered in the early s and widely reproduced in many forms, often called "We Can Do It! I think it's wrong and non-sensical for both authors and publishers in many ways, but instead of just complaining about it, I want to help change it for the better. After the military, I took a job doing computer system rollouts and later did technical writing, editing, and researching for an online educational services and exam provider. Or even an imprint with a revenue-sharing deal.

This goes to show the power of influence and how you can monetize it. After you have the audience, opportunities will come your way; you can then decide which path to take. I even consult for brands that work with influencers. There are over million accounts on Instagram. To stand out from them is an art; thanks to automation, you can reach more people than you humanly could. You want to be everywhere at all times. Crazy, right? Never underestimate the power of influence. How did I become an influencer? Then I found automation Desperate for a solution, I kept researching until I found a service that could automate this. In preparation for my third book, Hilarity Ensues , I stepped back and tried to figure out a different approach.

Frankly, I wanted to keep more of the money my books made, and I wanted more control over the publishing process, but I didn't want to deal with the problems that come from being in the "self-publishing ghetto. Part 2: "I'm not an author anymore. Now, I'm a publisher. I expected the publishing industry to act like a real business. When that didn't happen, I was well-equipped to figure out why, having come to writing by accident from an educational background of economics and law. I read everything I could about the publishing business, compared it to other similar businesses, saw how those were disrupted, applied my experiences with publishing and came to a key realization:.

I could replicate everything that a publishing house did -- except for distribution.

So what I needed was a distribution deal, not a book deal. Paying an advance 2. Editing content and copy 3. Cover Design 4. Layout and production 5. Printing 6. Marketing and promotion 7. If you are an established author who has sold a lot of books, you don't need No. Yes, big advances are nice, but what if you made more than three times as much money in the long term -- on the same sales -- by taking a bigger cut of the revenue?

I would skip the upfront money to make more long-term. The big choke point is No.

I reversed Hypothyroid hair loss without a single drug. (You can, too !)

It's essentially impossible to replicate the trucks, warehouses, retail relationships and sales teams that publishers have developed over the decades. And the reality is, even if you could replicate these things, the Big 6 publishers would still be better at this specific job. These facts make the path forward clear: I would no longer be just an author. I would cut a distribution deal with a major publisher, become a publishing company, do more work -- but keep all the profit. Distribution deals themselves aren't unusual. There are hundreds maybe thousands of publishing companies in America.

How many of them have trucks and warehouses and sales teams? Almost none. Of course not. They use a Big 6 publisher to do their distribution.

In fact, there are really only about eight major book distributors, and each of the Big 6 has a separate distribution division that handles the distribution services for other publishing houses. Well, why can't I do that? Why can't I be a publishing company and just cut a deal directly with a distributor, do everything else, and keep all the profit of my writing for myself? Yeah, I'll have to take a risk by skipping my advance on my third book, and it'll require some more work on my part -- but I am more than happy to hire freelancers if it means by royalty checks triple in size.

So that's what I decided to do. There was one problem: No author had ever done this before at least, no one I talked to had heard of this, but who knows, maybe it's happened. I couldn't find a guide or instructional manual to follow. I explained my plan to my agent, Byrd Leavell.

Byrd is very smart and always willing to test new things, but even he was unsure how to do this. Not only that, we already had two seven-figure offers for my third book in hand. Byrd was very unsure about turning them down to try something so new and unproven there's a "Byrd in hand" pun to make here, but I'll spare you.

The publishers themselves didn't really know how to deal with my proposal. I won't name the house, but Byrd and I took a meeting with an editor at one of the Big 6 publishers who'd made a seven-figure advance offer on my third book, and we brought our counterproposal to them. I told the editor I didn't want a book deal. Sunday evenings were the worst.

I dreaded Monday morning. I disliked my job but needed to stay there to keep my head above water. It was a vicious cycle. The quality of the relationship we have with ourselves determines the quality of all other relationships. Other people will come and go, but I will always have myself.

A little idea

I best make sure I like the man I see in the mirror. I often shock people when I tell them I believe there is no such thing as self-sabotaging behaviors. Surely, they are self-sabotaging? On top of the harmful physical and mental affects, these habits put me further into debt. But why did I indulge in those behaviors in the first place? Because my life situation was painful, and temporarily, they helped. For a few short hours, those behaviors made me feel better.

I became less anxious and happier. As far as my mind was concerned, this was helping. Without even consciously thinking , your incredible mind jolted you back onto the path and off the road.

Furthermore, believing I had a sneaky self-saboteur living inside me, hell-bent on destroying my life, made me feel utterly powerless. Now I view those destructive behaviors differently, for what I believe they are: short-sighted self-love. My mind allowed those behaviors because they were moving me away from perceived pain, or toward perceived pleasure.

With more awareness, I was able to stop beating myself up, stop the behaviors that were holding me back, and start making better choices. Which included asking for help and setting some goals for myself. Starting by gaining direction through goal-setting. This time, instead of attempting to change everything I wanted to change at once, I created small and achievable goals for myself. I started by addressing my personal debt, which was the biggest stressor in my life at the time, and a huge contributor toward my anxiety.

Once I made some progress with my goal of getting debt-free, I created small and achievable goals in other areas.
